Great Mail Day and a Lesson Never Learned

December 23, 2003

Today was a great mail day. But before I get to that, let's talk about a lesson I fear I'll never learn.

1. Go To McDonald's Drive Thru
2. Order a Big Mac and Fries
3. Will that be all? Yes.
4. Eat the fries on the way home.
5. When they're gone, reach in for the Big Mac.
6. Pull out a Quarter Pounder.

Lesson: Always check the bag *before* leaving the drive thru to make sure the order is right. Rats.

'kay... now for the mail.

I got a $150 rebate. Woo-Hoo!

I also got five CDs that I ordered from CDBaby:

Steve Tannen-Stopped At A Green LightGreg Tannen-RoamTrespasser's William - different starsRhetoric Tuesday - The Low CeilingSteve Tannen - The Big Senorita

I've been listening to the Tannen brothers since I first started listening to music at MP3.com. They're great! I've heard Trespassers William on MP3.com, too.

Rhetoric Tuesday I found on CDBaby. Are you a Counting Crows fan? If so, will you do me a favor? Go listen to the clip of "Something Beautiful" here and tell me if it doesn't sound like they took one or more Counting Crows songs and jumbled them all together. I hear "Mr. Jones" in there for sure.

Great Mail Day!

October 6, 2003

Rainy Day MusicIt was a great mail day! I got the Apache Tomcat Bible I ordered. I hope I can put it to good use. I really want to use Tomcat on our extranet, but I guess that's up to our IT Department.

I also got the Rainy Day Music CD by The Jayhawks. I fell in love with "Tailspin" over the last few months hearing it on the radio. And I already liked "Save It For A Rainy Day." I've read that The Jayhawks are great live. If I wasn't so old and achey, I'd watch for them to come to town. I just don't think I can handle standing up for several hours at a music venue. For now, I'll enjoy my CD. happy

Great Mail Day!

July 29, 2003

Today was a great mail day. I got two CDs (Train and Radiohead), two RDRAM memory modules, and two, I mean one, camera bag for my camera.

I can't tell you how the CDs are yet because I need to listen to them in the car. I put the Train CD on here at home, but I was too distracted by other things. It was good background music, though.

The memory modules are awesome. I plopped them into my computer and now I have 384 MB of RAM instead of 128 MB. I know it's not top of the charts in RAM, but it's much better than before. Hopefully, things won't get so hairy when I have several applications open. I'm a chronic multi-tasker, you know.

The camera bag is great. I needed a bigger one to fit my camera, lenses, filter, batteries, and battery charger. I don't want to forget my battery charger when I go on vacation like one who shall remain nameless did when she went to Las Vegas. I shall learn from her oopsy. (Now watch... I'll forget the whole dang camera or something. Ack!)

In other news... some Texas Democratic Senators ran away again to avoid redistricting. This time to New Mexico. Jerks. But the Republicans are pissing me off, too. I haven't seen the latest map they're trying to pass, but the last one I saw split Austin into three districts. The effect is that some Austinites would most likely be represented by someone from San Antonio. Other Austinites would most likely be represented by someone close to Houston. Of course, they are doing it because it will get them more Republican representatives in Congress. They don't even deny it. They should really get an unbiased independent person to draw the gosh darn map.
