Watermelon Songs

December 2, 2005

Todd Gehman, a robot at the Robot Coop and 43 Things, participated in NaSoAlMo (National Solo Album Month) 2005. He wrote and recorded Watermelon Songs. Way, Way Cool.

I'd love to do something like this, but the only way I could is if I turned off the internet for a whole month. heh!

A WHOLE month!!!

Whatcha thinkin! laugh

Scary thought, eh? laugh

I heard about NaSoAlMo on NPR when I was driving back from Lubbock after Thanksgiving, and I've been meaning to blog about it ever since, but I never remember when I'm at the keyboard! D'oh!

But yeah, it sounds like a fun thing to do ... maybe once we have our recording setup together, Karlyn and I can both work on albums for next year ... ha!

That would rock so much!!! happy

Dream Journal - An Accident and a Lost Cellphone

December 4, 2005

I was driving uphill on a windy street. There were kids on bicycles that I kept having to avoid hitting. I thought to myself that I would probably get into an accident with another car. Shortly after, I was going around a kid, and had a head on collision with a pickup truck. I wasn't hurt at all, but I was in shock. I sat on the curb. The man in the truck took a minute to get out. He looked mean, and I thought he was going to yell at me. I asked if he was okay, and he said he was.

He took my cellphone. I kept waiting for someone to come and help, but no one came for a long time. The pickup truck guy disappeared. I was walking around, and saw a police car parked like he was there to help, but I didn't see the policeman.

My sister-in-law was there, and we were looking for my cellphone. We looked in the guy's truck and found his cellphone. Then the guy showed up, and we were embarrassed he caught us looking in his truck. We told him we thought his phone was mine at first.

Then I was in a house *still* looking for my cellphone. I thought I should call my number to hear it ring, but I don't have my number memorized. I asked my sister-in-law if she knew it or if she would call my brother to find out what it is. I never found it during the dream.

I like it. Give a listen. smile

Update: The thing I like about Pandora is that it's not influenced by what is popular. There aren't any big record labels pushing their stuff down my throat. At least, that's the impression I get.

King Cake

December 29, 2005

Thank you to CrabAppleLane Rob and Patsy for sending a King Cake to Austin today!

It came all wrapped up with Mardi Gras beads, coins and a cup.

It was melt-in-your mouth good! The filling was raspberry and cream cheese. Yum!!

Some knew about the baby baked inside the cake; some didn't. Hank didn't know about the baby ... until he bit into it. heh!

I told him the tradition: whoever gets the baby has to buy the next King Cake. He didn't seem too thrilled. hahaha He's a good sport. smile

Thanks again, Rob and Patsy!!

You're quite welcome, Kim. Glad you enjoyed it.

By the way, those coins are called doubloons. You should see what people do for those beads.

That cake looks so delicious. How do I get a job where you are working? I'll work just for the cake.happy

omg that looks SO GOOD! and poor Hank!

There any sugar in that? LOL!

A little more than a cinnamon roll, brykmantra. Yeah, plenty. smile

Well, duh, Roblaugh! I was employing that literary device known as Verbal Irony ...

I had some of that stuff last year -- It's basically a sugar biscuit deep-fried in liquid sugar, and you get more colored suger to dump on top. I don't think I sat down all day ...

I think I caught that. I was going for understatement but it looks like I failed miserably. Not a new experience for me. smile
