Paleo Diet

For over a month, I've been eating a paleo diet. The paleo diet is much like a low carb diet, but I like how it's framed. 1) Eat Lots of Plants and Animals. 2) Don't Eat Poisonous Things. That's how Mark Sisson of Mark's Daily Apple describes it. Poisonous things include sugar, grains, processed foods, junk foods, etc. (You might not consider those things poisonous, but the improvement in how I feel when I don't eat them makes me believe they are.)

When I did low carb diets in the past, losing weight was the goal. A side effect was feeling better physically and mentally. This time, feeling better is the goal and losing weight is a welcome side effect. The truth is, I haven't even weighed.

I'm also trying to change my mindset about food. It's fuel, not a treat or comfort. Breakfast used to be a treat for me... a chocolate croissant from Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf or a home baked scone. Breakfast was always a challenge when I was on diets before. Now I've worked out a breakfast that is simply part of my morning routine. Get up, take a shower, brush my teeth, eat a boiled egg, go to work. I usually have some fruit or nuts at work if I get hungry between meals.

I feel great!
